Children First ensures that poor and needy families with a large number of children are given a home, and that the children can grow up in living conditions which are humane.

It is particularly within the suburbs surrounding large cities in Romania and other poor countries, that the most devastating living conditions for countless children and their families are to be found.

They are cut off from any water or electricity supply mains, there are no established roads and everything is entrenched in mud and dirt. The children live in shacks, thrown together using clay, timber and tarpaulin, often without windows. The tiny alleyways are marked by the smell of urine and excrement. Scantily dressed babies and young children can be seen walking through the mud, dirt and cold. There is a lack of everything!

Children First has set its goal in creating better living conditions - at least for the poorest, largest and most needy families - by renting and buying living accommodation. This accommodation is offered rent-free to the poorest children and their families.
