Important note: The children need to reach 100% of their support, therefore the payment of 30 euros a month is entirely devoted to the children of Adoption at a Distance!

RATIONALE OF THE PROJECT:
The earthquake of October 8, 2005 in South Asia has deeply marked the people of northern Pakistan, including those of Azad Kashmir and the Frontier Province in the northwest.

The area of Azad Kashmir has been the hardest hit, with a multiplicity of villages completely destroyed, innumerable deaths and grave losses in terms of social infrastructure. In the face of this disaster, the district of Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir has been particularly affected: there have been 28,135 recorded victims, some 30,000 orphans and 1,400 widows.

Four years after the earthquake, nearly all the international organizations have departed and left many children and their families in extremely difficult situations.

Thousands of children have lost their mothers, fathers, or both and have no access to the indispensable resources required to live with dignity. It is for this reason that we are searching for kind-hearted people who wish to become mothers or fathers at a distance for these unfortunate children; to guarantee them the most basic living conditions (click here to see the table which shows how your support will be used).

APPEAL
There are currently more than 1,400 widows with more than five children under twelve years of age living in dramatic situations in villages that are inaccessible to the media.

Women in general have not had access to scholastic education, and are not even allowed to work outside their families. If the husband dies, the family: especially the children; are suddenly in great difficulty and have desperate household living conditions.

Children First has launched a program of Adoption from a Distance for the orphaned children who are suffering from extreme poverty, malnutrition and illnesses and injuries caused by the earthquake. These are children who have a right to a dignified life…

Help!

A donation of only 30 euros a month would be enough to acquire the basic necessities for a child: safe, nutritious food, products for personal hygiene, scholastic materials as well as medicine and medical care.

These are basic necessities for all children, but they unfortunately remain only a dream, out of reach of these children without the contribution of their “Mother or Father at a Distance”.

In order to thank you for your contribution, your child at a distance will send you, twice a year, a drawing and a photo. In addition, you will receive a letter to reassure you of the living conditions and health of your child.
